Political Football FAQ

Because Life is a Political Football

What is Political Football?

Political Football is not just another political blog. How so? From what we see in the ethosphere there are fanatics galore on the left and right, but there is little or no voice for what we would classify as the normal majority.

Most of these other political blogs are so entrenched in their partisan views that they are little more than propaganda machines.

Unfortunately the fanatics on the fringe are getting most of the attention because they roam in packs and scream the loudest. So we asked why should the wackos have all the fun?

Sure, we like to read the extremist blogs too. Besides their entertainment value they can also provide us with lots of inspiration for articles. But trying to find a sensible perspective is another matter.

That's where Political Football steps in. We like to think of ourselves as sensible bloggers who also have something to say.

We believe that the majority of readers are of a like mind, and are looking for a forum to read and be heard above the rest of the shrills out there. Hence, Political Football was born.

Around here we do our darndest to be nonpartisan. So what does that mean? Well, sometimes no matter how hard we try we may still find ourselves leaning to the left or the right on an issue. But we pick and choose our spots based on common sense and realistic objectives - not blindly following some extremist idealogue.

We also like to give all those know-it-all talking-head pundits out there a little kick in the pants now and then. Hence, the punting imagery of our logo and the name Political Football.

So if you like to write, why not consider joining us and be a contributing writer, or just continue perusing the site and enjoy the articles. And while your at it, leave us a comment or two. We would love to hear from you. (It reminds us that we're not always talking to ourselves).

Background:

Ever since the Rathergate debacle, the phenomena known as the blogosphere exploded thanks to all of the attention that it received from mainstream media. That means any pin-head with a computer can now become an instant publishing machine.

The blogosphere smugly prides itself as the policeman of the media, but who is keeping the bloggers in line? That's where we step in. Hence, "Political Football" was born. But it's not just the bloggers we're after. Around here we don't discriminate and everything is pretty much open season.

What this site is Not about:

You will not find long strings of expletives or hate mongering at this site. We are of the opinion that a little tongue-in-cheek humour goes a long way.

Our Slogans are:

"Making light of the seemingly incomprehensible";

"Where reason and common sense collide ";

"Explaining the inexplicable";

"Blogging is all about empowerment". The future of journalism has arrived and it's called the Blogosphere" (also our mission statement);

"Commenting on the Commentators";

"Never in the history of mankind and Johann Gutenberg's invention of the printing press has a technology empowered so many", OR "Not since the invention of the Gutenberg printing press has so much been given to so many", or any such derivatives thereof;

So don't bother try to steal them because they're ours and are all copyrighted.

Our Other Blogs are:

Blog Bloke: A Blogging Resource, Online Communications and Technology

the Daily Fisk: A tongue-in-cheek look at the news and opinion makers of our day

News Blog: News Headlines

Yes it's a heck of a lot of work but at least it keeps us off the streets.
